A Statistical Study of Poleward Traveling Ionospheric Disturbances Over the African and American Sectors During Geomagnetic Storms

چکیده
We present statistical results of traveling ionospheric disturbances (TIDs) with origin near the geomagnetic equator during storms that occurred within period 2010–2018. Based on storm criteria Kp > 4 and Dst ≤ −50 nT, we have analyzed total electron content perturbations derived from Global Navigational Satellite Systems observations a latitude range 40°S–60°N longitude ranges 20°–40°E 50°–70°W representing African American sectors. Although northern hemispheric part sector has limited data coverage, show launched TIDs do not exceed latitudinal distance 20°–25° their period. A statistically similar result is observed over poleward constrained largely ±20°–30° around equator. Where are available, majority these cases linked to changes in electrodynamics, especially enhancement equatorial electrojet (EEJ), although there other explained by EEJ variability. This indicates may be physical mechanisms play role launching at disturbed conditions. An important large-scale medium-scale been found occur predominantly main recovery phases storms, respectively, least sector.

Ionospheric redistribution during geomagnetic storms
[1]The abundance of plasma in the daytime ionosphere is often seen to grow greatly during geomagnetic storms. Recent reports suggest that the magnitude of the plasma density enhancement depends on the UT of storm onset. This possibility is investigated over a 7year period using global maps of ionospheric total electron content (TEC) produced at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The analysis confir...
متن کاملIonospheric f oF2 anomalies during some intense geomagnetic storms
The global evolutions of f oF2 anomalies were examined for three very intense geomagnetic storms, namely the Halloween events of October–November 2003 (Event X, 29–30 October 2003, Dst −401 nT; Event Y, 20–21 November 2003, Dst −472 nT), and the largest Dst storm (Event Z, 13–14 March 1989, Dst −589 nT). For Event X, troughs (negative storms) were clearly seen for high northern and southern lat...
متن کاملInvestigation of the effects of geomagnetic storms on ionospheric irregularities using the combination of ground-based GNSS and SWARM satellites
Geomagnetic storms are one of the main causes of ionospheric perturbations in different sizes, depending on their intensity, which could disturb radio signals passing through this medium. On September 6-12, 2017, the sudden storm commencement (SSC) was the most massive geomagnetic storm of the year due to the X9 solar flare caused by a coronal mass ejection (CME). IMF-Bz and Dst values increase...
متن کاملTrans - ionospheric GPS signal delay gradients observed over mid - latitude Europe during the geomagnetic storms of October - November 2003
Ionospheric disturbances are known to have adverse effects on the satellite-based communication and navigation. One particular type of ionospheric effects, observed during major geomagnetic storms and threatening the integrity performance of both ground-based and space-based GNSS augmentation systems, is the sharp increase/decrease in the ionospheric delay that propagates in horizontal directio...
متن کاملwuthering heights and the concept of marality/a sociological study of the novel
to discuss my point, i have collected quite a number of articles, anthologies, and books about "wuthering heights" applying various ideas and theories to this fantastic story. hence, i have come to believe that gadamer and jauss are rightful when they claim that "the individaul human mind is the center and origin of all meaning," 3 that reading literature is a reader-oriented activity, that it ...
